I do a lot of writing, which sometimes requires a lot of research. Somewhere in the Middle of it I discovered a search service that rewards you with free prizes. You earn points called swag bucks and redeem them for gift certificates to places like amazon, restaurant.com, and target. I just redeemed some of the points I've earned for two $25 gift certificates to restaurant.com, which can be used at many local places to eat out.
If you're just scraping by and would really like to be able to go out now and again without spending any money at all, this is one way to do it. Participating in surveys and polls also help you earn points for prizes and sweepstakes entries, making it easy to earn four or five hundred points a week or more. Try it out yourself here:
